How to distinguish between male and female tiger barb

It is comparatively easy to distinguish between male and females tiger barbs. The female tiger barbs are generally bigger in size then male tiger barb and have rounder belly. Male tiger barbs have distinctively red noses and above black part of their dorsal fin you can find characteristic red line while the dorsal fin of female tiger barb is mainly black.

Tiger barb are small tropical fishes. These are laterally compressed and very active fishes. These are moderately aggressive. Avoid keeping them with slow moving and with those fishes which have large fins such as angelfish. They look extremely beautiful in groups. You must keep them in group of 5 or more. They are hardy in nature and accept almost every kind of food.
